Motorcycle fun with the kids...
We were finally able to get out as a family and ride motorcycles this past weekend. A big thanks to Leif and Jacove for letting us come up to their property in the mountains and use the homemade track. Between the 3 families, there were a whole bunch of kids cruising around having fun. Even Natali jumped on the boys XR70 and cruised around. She stopped long enough for a quick pose and was off again. Generally we wear more than flip flops, at least helmets, but the picture is better this way.
Dylan started riding the little XR70 last year and was very, very, very cautious. In fact, I was pretty sure we were going to show up and the other kids might be a little intimidating. It took him a couple of warm up laps and he was ready to go. I taped one of his first laps, and lets just say this is night and day progress from last year. His bike was beginning to think it only had 1st gear. He was regularly in the higher 2 gears and having a great time with his buddies Noah, Grasyn and Zana. It was pretty good times.
We didn't bring Christian any gear to ride, not knowing the 4 wheeler would be there. He is still too little to stand over the XR70. After a couple of laps on it with Dad he just had to try it by himself. His riding style is a little unorthodox, but it worked. Because he would push so hard to turn right, his thumb was constantly gunning the throttle through the turn, hence my yelling for him to slow it down. The first time I let him throttle and steer, he put us 5 feet into the weeds. After a quick lap by himself, he was ready to go and prayed that night that he would get a 4wheeler. No pressure:)
All in all, it was a fun day. Dad had to leave his bike at home in the garage because sometimes he doesn't check things like trailer relays and just assumes it will all work:) So we threw the little bike in the back of the minivan and headed up in 2 cars. The kids loved driving around on the bikes and the adults had a great time being parents, eating bbq and drinking lots of DP.
Stay tuned for more updates.....Natali has intensified her interest in blogging and will probably be posting more and more to come!
